You all know that we love to travel and explore! Here are some of our favourite places in Queensland — and if you like what you see and want to make an even bigger trip out of it, let us know so we can give you even more hot tips!
The Gold Coast is Australia's sixth-largest city and a melting pot of beach-lovers and night-lifers. The people-watching is always interesting and the beaches are famous for a reason! (Our favourites are Main Beach, Burleigh Heads, and Currumbin!)
The Scenic Rim is a gigantic, ancient shield volcano covering the area 1-2 hours southwest of Gold Coast, and there are plenty of beautiful things to see there besides our wedding!
Lamington National Park is an ancient rainforest with a spectacular suspended boardwalk through the treetops.
The Gold Coast is home to five of Australia's biggest theme parks, including Movie World, Sea World, and Dream World. Scott recommends paying an extra $20 for the special backward-facing rear seats on the DC Rivals hypercoaster (pictured).
We hope to see you at the Burleigh brewery on Sunday, but if you get a chance, the beaches are (shockingly) top-notch, and there's a glorious walk around the headland. Bring a coffee and watch the surfers!
Get your fill of Australian critters and tree-huggers at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary!
Queensland's capital and its biggest blossoming metropolis, home to us and 2.5 million others, is only an hour north of the Gold Coast!
Feast your eyes on the Story Bridge at sunset from Felons Brewery, take a stroll through South Bank and the Botanical Gardens, have a glass of wine in Fish Lane, and try every coffee and local boutique in West End before the word gets out at the 2032 Olympics!
Drive another 60-90 minutes north of Brisbane and you'll find yourself at the sunny Sunshine Coast, which stretches from Caloundra to Noosa Heads! The beautiful hinterland behind it includes the Glass House Mountains and gorgeous towns like Montville and Maleny.
It's the most photographed place in Australia for good reason! Fly 100 minutes to Proserpine and take the ferry (or fly direct to Hamilton Island!) and spend a few days and nights zipping around the island in a golf buggy, soaking up the sun, and going sailing to Whitehaven Beach!
You know you've always wanted to see it, and now could finally be the time! Cairns is a 2.5 flight north of the Gold Coast and May is a fantastic time of year to see the reef!
We recommend the Wavelength reef tour running out of Port Douglas.
